Stairway to Pure Land

Khenpo emphasizes that the Pure Land dharma is not exclusively for the elderly, and young people equally need to cultivate it. He points out that rebirth in the Pure Land requires the Four Causes of Rebirth: visualizing the merit field, accumulating merit and purifying obstacles, generating bodhicitta, and making aspirations and dedications. He particularly warns against the two major obstacles to rebirth: the transgression of abandoning the Dharma and the five heinous crimes. He stresses that Buddhists should engage in extensive study and contemplation, avoid superstitious behaviors, integrate practice into daily life, embrace all virtuous actions with bodhicitta, and ultimately achieve peaceful rebirth in the Pure Land of Bliss.
