A Buddhist Exploration on Human Nature

University Lecture
Hunan University

In his speech, Khenpo Sodargye explores the view that human nature is inherently good. He emphasizes that everyone's true nature possesses good qualities, but these are obscured by acquired environmental influences. The Khenpo advocates returning to our inherent goodness through learning, maintaining an optimistic attitude, cultivating positive energy, and establishing faith. He also clarifies the true meaning of Marx's statement that "religion is the opium of the people," pointing out that religion has a positive effect on life, and calls for everyone to understand religion with an open and inclusive mindset.
