Commitments of Refuge Vows
Public Talk

The teaching emphasizes that everyone possesses Buddha-nature and can attain Buddhahood. Atisha's five precepts of refuge are: 1) Never abandon refuge even when facing life-threatening danger or great rewards; 2) Pray to the Buddha for major life events; 3) Help sentient beings with karmic connections take refuge in the Three Jewels; 4) Never forget to make offerings to the Buddha in all daily activities; 5) Pay homage to the Buddha wherever you go. As Buddhists, one should possess upright character, view the world without prejudice, enter the Dharma through both faith and wisdom, and by observing these five precepts, make one's conduct distinctive and embody the true identity of a Buddhist practitioner.
